Frequently asked questions
What are GLP-1 medications?
GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1) agonists are prescription drugs that improve blood sugar control and may lead to weight loss; results vary by drug and dosage. Common side effects: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea — often mitigated by correct upward titration, so take exactly as prescribed by your provider. Anti-nausea medication such as ondansetron (generic Zofran) can help. Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) is a more serious risk, elevated if combined with other blood-sugar-lowering drugs such as sulfonylureas or insulin. Not recommended with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid cancer or multiple endocrine neoplasia (animal studies have linked these drugs to thyroid tumors; human risk is not yet known pending long-term study), or if you have had pancreatitis.
How do I take GLP-1 medication?
Follow your provider's prescribed doses and directions exactly to minimize the risk and severity of potential side effects. If you have questions about how to take your medication once you receive it, reach out to Saunatica at support@saunaticarx.com before taking it, for guidance from a licensed professional. Taking doses other than prescribed may have unintended and potentially dangerous effects.
What should I do if I miss a dose?
If you miss a dose on your scheduled day, reach out to Saunatica at support@saunaticarx.com before continuing. You may need to lessen your next dose to minimize the risk and severity of potential side effects.
How should I store GLP-1 medications?
These medications should be stored in the refrigerator between doses. GLP-1 medications are temperature-sensitive and can degrade if not stored properly.
When should I take my dose of GLP-1 medication?
GLP-1 medications can be taken at any time of day, with or without meals. If your dose is prescribed weekly, take it on the same day each week.
Can I keep a dosage I've already been on if I'm switching from another provider?
Discuss your previous prescription and dosage with your provider during the medical intake process. If medically appropriate, your provider will coordinate your dosage accordingly.
Does joining guarantee a prescription?
No. Enrollment or payment does not guarantee a prescription. An independent licensed provider makes the decision using professional judgment after reviewing your health information.
Are the compounded medications FDA-approved?
No. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved, and the FDA does not review them for safety, effectiveness, or quality before they are dispensed. If prescribed, medication is prepared for an individual patient by a licensed compounding pharmacy.
Are brand-name products included?
No. Saunatica does not offer Wegovy®, Ozempic®, Mounjaro®, or Zepbound®. Those products are manufactured exclusively by their respective manufacturers. The program described here concerns compounded medication when prescribed.
What is included in program pricing?
The displayed program price includes provider care and support, the medication and supplies package when prescribed, and access to program education and platform tools. A prescription is never guaranteed. Any additional charge must be disclosed before you authorize it.
Where does medication come from?
When prescribed, medication is dispensed and shipped by a licensed compounding pharmacy pursuant to a patient-specific prescription. Packaging and delivery details are provided by the dispensing pharmacy.
